Over COVID, a family began gathering and having quality time over homemade ice cream. These memories started making ice cream feel like part of the family. From this, the idea of creating a family ice cream shop was born. Authors wants to create an ice cream shop with love, passion, and commitment. I believe they’ve done a wonderful job of that.
Now with a shop in Ashburn opened seven days a week, as well as Wednesdays at Wakefield Farmers Market in Annandale, Saturdays at the Reston Farmers Market, and Sundays at the Mosaic Farmers Market, Author’s Ice Cream is easily accessible to many.
I can speak from experience: Authors is some of the creamiest and best ice cream you can find in Northern Virginia. Their dedication to quality ingredients and small batches made daily comes through in each scoop.
Authors also offers a full coffee menu, including coffee, espresso, and lattes. With espresso and ice cream offered, of course, they have one of my personal favorites, an affogato.
The menu includes ice cream by the scoop, milkshakes, sundaes, and even a donut panini ice cream sandwich. Each aspect of ice cream making is handled with the highest quality, something they can be proud of. They get their milk from a small farm in Pennsylvania, ensuring they’re using high-quality, always fresh dairy products.
Making small batches on site and showcasing the machines creating the delicious ice cream in the store, every flavor is made on-site, and you can observe the process in the store.
If you love quality ice cream, you’re going to like Authors. They have a passion for it, and it shows. On their website, it says, “we’re the family with the small cart and great heart.” After meeting some of that family, I would absolutely agree. Incredible ice cream, incredible family.
