For almost a decade, Old Town Fairfax has been fortunate to have De Clieu Coffee & Sandwiches gracing the corner of Main St. and University Dr. This is more than just your typical small-town coffee shop. As the name suggests, it offers coffee and sandwiches, but they ensure to take the extra step to set themselves apart. They offer a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches along with the baked goods you’d expect. However, the real pride is in their coffee. You can tell they take pride in it, and with a full coffee menu, they make sure to cover all their bases, ensuring that the beans meet their standards, which shows in the drinks. Alongside house-made syrups, they offer plenty of seasonal drinks. Parking might seem difficult, being right at the corner of Old Town Fairfax, but it’s not. Street parking is often available, and there is free parking at Victorian Square close by. The only downside I’ve noticed is how quickly seating fills up. It can be challenging to find a place to sit, as many people come to sit and work. However, there does seem to be quick turnover on tables, but it’s a coin flip whether you’ll find a table when you go. There is no outdoor seating right outside the door, but just a block north on University Dr. is Old Town Square. Enjoy your coffee and sandwich by the Fairfax Public Fountains.
