Lily’s Chocolate & Coffee

Lily's Chocolate & Coffee thought pink was cool way before the Barbie movie. If you've ever stepped into either the Vienna or Alexandria location, you'll know exactly what I mean. They have a very specific color theme and it shows. You may notice the pink walls as soon as you walk in but I'm sure you'll be talking about the lockma and the service on the way out. For those who aren't familiar with lockma, it's fried dough similar to doughnut holes in size.  It originated in Egypt and, if you aren't familiar, I encourage you to get to Lily's and give them a try. Traditional lockma are covered in syrup and sugar, with many options to choose from: vanilla, chocolate, and Oreo are the usual options; date syrup, sesame seeds, pistachio, and Biscoff are some of the more unique flavors. Since it is Lily's Chocolate & Coffee, it has more than lockma. More sweets like chocolate mousse, sweet waffles, and cake slices. If you feel bad about just eating dessert, they have that covered as well with some cold sandwich options. Fresh-made turkey, chicken and tuna sandwiches are now on the menu. Like most places in Alexandria, parking isn't easy. The Vienna location has easier parking and a few tables outside so you can enjoy the passing life of Maple Ave.  Beautiful decor in both Vienna and Alexandria; I encourage you to give it a look. If you've never tried lockma, I highly recommend you experience them yourself. Let me know what you think. If you're already had them, well I don't need to tell you why you should be heading to Lily's.
