Opening its doors in Falls Church in 2019, the story of Thompson Italian began in 2007 when Gabe and Katherine Thompson met while working together in the culinary world of New York City. With impressive resumes honed at renowned establishments like Le Bernadin, Per Se, and L’Artusi, the Thompsons have brought their expertise and passion to Northern Virginia.
The success of this incredible Italian restaurant led to a second location in Old Town Alexandria. Both locations share the same name, owner, and vision, yet each has its own chef and mixologist, allowing for unique inspirations to be added to the menu. While both restaurants maintain their classic offerings and similar ambiance, the subtle differences provide a unique appeal at each venue.
In their first few years, Thompson Italian has already been recognized as one of the top restaurants in Northern Virginia by numerous publications and received a James Beard nomination for Pastry Chef of the Year. The service is outstanding, contributing to an all-around wonderful dining experience.
